Goals embody different aspects owing to which it is normally used by small organizations and large corporations alike to grow. Having said that as an individual goal setting is essential.
Undoubtedly, these goals should come in the realm of reality so that achieving them is possible and doable in the assigned time/shortest span.
There is something anecdotal that I would like to share from my experience.
I used to love reading books(fiction/non-fiction) which can immensely influence the way you think and process your day-to-day behavior. Also, business books which are penned down by CEO’s/entrepreneurs/investors.
In 2017, I decided to get in touch with the reading habit and set myself a goal of 5 books on Goodreads. Finally, by the end of the year, I was able to finish around 10 books.
Similarly, in 2018, I set a goal of 10 books on Goodreads and was able to complete around 20 books.
This number thoroughly astounded me!!!
I didn’t have time before then how did this happen??
After some thinking, I could come up with a simple explanation:
- Achieving a big goal at the start does look daunting but breaking it into smaller ones is helpful
- Smaller Goals have some tasks attached to them which can be done after some thinking
- Every small goal that is achieved should be celebrated
This principle applies to every goal in anyone’s life. These three steps act as positive reinforcement and assists in achieving their end-goal: read books, lose weight, earn more money, start a business, build a house, save for college, etc.
Hope you agree
Wish me luck for my 2019 goal of 25 books on Goodreads.
Look forward to hearing from you in the comments section
