Rahu-Ketu are two sides of the same coin.
Rahu: Present Life and Ahead
Ketu: Past Life to Present
One cannot move ahead without the other.
These planets are called shadow planets as Rahu(considered a shadow of Saturn on the Moon) and Ketu(considered a shadow of Mars on the Moon) do not have a physical manifestation.
Despite Saturn being the lord of Karma, Rahu-Ketu is deeply linked to the experiences one might have during their Mahadasha or Antardasha or during their transit.
In terms of depiction,
- Rahu is shown as the head with the body of a serpent
- Ketu is shown as a headless body
Like Rahu, Ketu also has the power to make someone rich/famous or a pauper/infamous overnight.
In Vedic astrology, Ketu is considered a malefic but its impact is contrary to Rahu.
Ketu aspires toward a Moksha/Spiritual Approach to Life as compared to a Materialistic Approach as seen in the case of Rahu.
So, let’s look at the positives and negatives of Ketu
Positives
- Ketu is very much needed for spiritual development in a person
- A good placement of Ketu can make the individual good in the fields of mathematics, chemistry, pharma, and medical sciences
- Ability to be a quick thinker
Negatives
- Short Tempered Person
- Prone to chronic health issues especially linked to the stomach/digestion
- A person shows high reluctance towards the area of life in which Ketu is placed
Now, as we have seen both sides of Ketu, let us look at what the 8th House stands for
- It is the house of death and rebirth, life after marriage, joint assets, surgeries, sudden accidents, sexual well-being, etc.
- It is one of the Dusthana houses (the other Dusthana being 6th and 12th). It gives better results with time
- As per Kalpurush Kundli, the 8th House is the zodiac of Scorpio and is co-ruled by Ketu and Mars. Scorpio is a water sign and is one of the intense karmic signs.
- Mooladhara chakra is also said to be present in this house and this chakra is vital for someone to be enlightened and know about their objective in life
Coming to the question,
Placement of Ketu in the 8th House
- Considering Ketu is the co-ruler of the karmically heavy house – affairs/responsibilities linked to this house will not be easy to execute (till there is no positive aspect or placement of strong planets in the house)
- The person with Ketu in 8th might show a high inclination to be in a relationship or get married but get disenchanted/disinterested once it is done
- Joint assets post-marriage will increase without making much effort towards the same
- Like in the case of Rahu, a malefic(negative) planet in a negative(dushthana) house is a positive for the individual
- Like in the case of Rahu, the placement will assist someone in pursuing research but in topics like forensic audit, mathematics, drug research, clinical trials, etc.
Hope this helps to throw some light on the placement
