How can Astrology explain why some people are more attached to their friends than their family members?

The 4th House is linked to home, happiness, hometown, and mother.

Having said that,

Friends and Family are not only seen from the 4th house but from

• 2nd House
• 3rd House
• 11th House
• 8th House (post partnership linked relationship especially in the case of marriage)

People who are attached to their friends but not to the family can happen when

1. Saturn sits in the 4th house thereby causing problems linked to home, real estate, etc. causing distance from family. These people can have 3rd Lord sitting in 11th or vice versa thereby causing more focus on friends over family
2. Ketu sits in the 4th or 2nd House causing detachment (willingly or unwillingly) with family and leading to pursuit of the same care, love, attention and attachments through friends & acquaintances
3. Placement of 4th House Lord in the 8th House – this can be seen in people working in the Oil & Gas or Research Domain who will be staying away from family and make good friends at work (which are on par as family)

We need to see an individual’s chart which can give us a better idea linked to aspects or placement in the nakshatra which might be furthering the distance from the family.
