Is 2022 a good time to invest in Jaiprakash Power (JP Power) shares?

The stock under consideration, JP Power, can be best categorized as a penny stock that has been losing value for the past decade.

JP Power: Stock Performance since listing

The stock has been more of a trading stock than an investment-based script.

Results of Dec 2021, showed EBITDA at Rs. 415.91 crores up 24.89% from Rs. 333.02 crore in December 2020. Also, the EPS improved by Rs. 0.10 in December 2021 from Rs. 0.01 in December 2020.

These numbers are in no way confidence-boosting for an investor to commit their hard-earned money.

Instead, try to invest in companies like

  • NTPC:
    • The stock has returned a capital gain of ~40% in the past year
    • The Total Dividend for the Full Year is INR 7
NTPC: Stock Performance for the past year
  • Power Grid:
    • The stock has returned a capital gain of ~35% in the past year
    • The Total Dividend for the Full Year is INR 7
Power Grid: Stock Performance for the past year

Hope this helps
