What is the impact of Mahadasha on one’s life and career?

As you are aware, as per Vedic Astrology, there are 7 planets (Sun, Moon, Mercury, Mars, Saturn, Venus, and Jupiter) and 2 shadow planets (Rahu and Ketu)

Each one has a period when they are dominant in a person’s chart/horoscope and through that in their life. This period is called Mahadasha or Dasha.

This concept is different from transit(Gochar) or aspects(Drishti) or Natal Placements

When the Mahadasha of the planet or shadow planet occurs, the houses (Zodiac Signs) linked to them get activated and the individual will experience growth or learning through them.

Now, let us see how the Mahadashas are for a person

1. Sun – 6 years
2. Moon – 10 years
3. Jupiter – 16 years
4. Mercury – 17 years

The total cycle is 120 years. For a normal human being, they do not go through all of them in a lifetime.

   1. The Individual will become ambitious, lead an organization, think or join politics, or work with people associated with the government
2. Moon Mahadasha
   1. Will be close to their mother
   2. If overseas, then will return to their home country
   3. Will think of going into the business of food or dairy
3. Mercury Mahadasha
   1. An extremely great period for learning and growing academically
   2. Will grow professionally
   3. Will think of setting up a business
4. Mars Mahadasha
   1. Will be ambitious to grow and lead teams
   2. Will think of investing in tangible assets like real estate, etc.
   3. Will bring new initiatives for their organization
5. Jupiter Mahadasha
   1. Will make the individual financially sound
   2. The individual will believe in growing self spiritually and religiously
   3. The individual will focus on avoiding conflicts and growing their knowledge base
6. Venus Mahadasha
   1. Will bring luxuries into the individual’s life
   2. An ideal time for someone to get married or have kids
   3. The individual will take leisure trips (short and long)
7. Saturn Mahadasha
   1. Dreaded by many but it is an ideal time for career and life-building
   2. Growth during this phase is sustained and rewarded immensely
   3. Despite the slow rate of growth, the individual’s confidence grows, and is self-assured
8. Rahu Mahadasha
   1. Gets the individual obsessed about life’s wants
   2. The individual tends to be unhappy most of the time
   3. If well placed, can take the individual to great heights in their career
9. Ketu Mahadasha
   1. The individual gets detached from life’s wants
   2. The individual tends to be unhappy as nothing makes sense
   3. If well placed, can take the individual to great heights regarding spirituality, and occult sciences.
